I headed over to see Mom this morning and to do some shopping. I had a mission to find some long-sleeved tees and sweaters since none of mine fit from last year. I found a few things at Kohl's, but I found a TON of stuff at Old Navy. Corrin, thank you SO much for that coupon...it saved me over $25! Rock on! :)
Now I'm at home, doing laundry, going through old clothes to give away to Goodwill, and finally ripping my Christmas cds into iTunes. Dustin's on his way home from hunting and already called to say he got a 130 class 9-point buck this morning. :) However, I think said deer will end up being a shoulder mount in my office sometime between now and Christmas. We had agreed to only do European mounts, but I can't steal his thunder on this one.
We are going to see Quantum Solace tonight, too. Hopefully tomorrow will be a lot of laying around and relaxing. Work's been super stressful for both of us lately, so a quiet day would be nice.
Yes. I want to see this movie. But only so I can point out the flaws in their plan and tell everyone in the theatre how Juls and I would do it better. :)
God. No Cowboy Bebop live-action movie. Did you not learn anything from the Aeon Flux debacle? Seriously...any stylized anime like Aeon or Cowboy does NOT translate to live-action.
As if that weren't enough, I just read that MTV is going to remake the RHPS. (that's Rocky Horror Picture Show for you virgins out there that have not had the delight of going to a midnight showing of this movie)
Seriously - no more remakes, no more anime-to-live-action movies. Enough. Quit it. Don't let someone's first impression of CB or RHPS be these new movies.
Thanks to A, J, M, and D for hopping on board so quickly with my plan for us to go see Goldfinger (Master Pancake style) at Alamo last night. :) I love that you guys go along with my crazy schemes so easily. As always, you were a BLAST to hang out with.
J, thanks for being the DD and for dealing with parking downtown. And, of course, for the drinks at the "after party" here at our place.
A, thanks for going with me and being a great girlfriend to hang out with. I forgot how much fun that could be. :)
M, what can I say? You are the master of all James Bond knowledge, and my cohort in partaking of a Vesper martini.
D, what a trooper sitting between M and I during the movie (and especially the pre-movie entertainment). Thanks for staying up late even though there were hogs to be hunted at the crack o' dawn this morning.
Come on, guys! Enough with the horror movie remakes!!! Granted, I actually liked the remake of "Amityville Horror", but remaking Halloween??? I know Rob Zombie is a good horror movie director, but why would a fan of horror movies like him want to remake a classic? It looks like he also wrote the screenplay for the new version and isn't using the original.
Just off the top of my head, I can name the following that have been remade in the past few years:
Amityville Horror Black Christmas The Omen The Hitcher The Hills Have Eyes Texas Chainsaw Massacre House of Wax
And that's without even looking at imdb! I mean, come on guys. I know remakes are nothing new, but leave well enough alone!
It's not just horror movies, either. Hairspray is being re-made this year, too. How on earth do they think they can recapture the delightful campiness (sp?) and kitsch of that movie? John Waters is not even involved this time! *boggles*
So, the point of this long rant is to come to this: If you go and see these remakes, please, please, PLEASE take the time to rent the originals to see what you're missing. I would hate to think the teenagers of the world only think of Paris Hilton when they see "House of Wax" and not Vincent Price.
