Squeamish America

DISCLAIMER: This post is most definitely Adult in nature. You've been warned.

From Buzzfeed today:
BuzzFeed
Full Frontals

I love how much attention male full-frontal nudity gets in this country. Americans are so squeamish about sex...especially the male member being displayed on the big screen. It's perfectly ok for women to do full-frontal work, but men...uh uh. Sorry, guys...no matter how comfortable you are with your bodies, America doesn't want to see your Naughty Bits.

As most of you know, my Scottish Fling, Ewan McGregor, has had no problem doing full nudity in his movies: Trainspotting, Velvet Goldmine, The Pillow Book, and most notably in Young Adam. Of course, Young Adam also included some very steamy and boundary-pushing sex scenes that earned the movie and NC-17 rating in the States and an edited version of the movie being released to DVD here as well. (Side note: only *1* scene was cut from the DVD release. Evidently, we can see a woman completely naked, but we can't see her being pleasured by a man in certain ways. It does amuse me that the custard scene was not cut - just goes to demonstrate how little the people who make those kinds of decisions know about sex.)

Back to the point of this post:

America - get over yourself. Stop being so uptight about sex and nudity. As long as a TV show or movie has an appropriate rating on it so parents know not to let the kiddos watch it, then who cares what naughty bits are shown? I say equal opportunity nudity for all!

They're heeeere...

The Star Wars stamps are available from USPS May 25th!

Of course, I am thrilled, because my boyfriend, Obi-Wan, adornes their main page if you select Rebellion. :)

I am getting closer to...

owning all of Ewan's movies that are on dvd. Thanks to a little excursion to ebay, I have 3 movies I am bidding on (A Life Less Ordinary, Long Way Round, and Valiant). Also found I can buy Lipstick on Your Collar (VHS, of course), on half.com. That may have to be something for next month.

What I already have

What's on order

What I'm missing

Other note: I have received my second book from BookMooch, and I am loving this site. I highly recommend it. :)

posted on the Ewan Sisterhood board

Top 3 or 4 favorite Ewan movies and why:

Moulin Rouge - Looks like I am not the only one who got hooked on Mr. McGregor with this one ;) This film is just beautiful to look at. The colors are so deep and vivid. Baz's use of modern songs has always amazed me, too.

Velvet Goldmine - Music, half (or less)-clothed Ewan, glitter...what more can we want? Oh yeah...Christian Bale and Jonathan Rhys Meyers!

The Island - Ewan in an action movie! Two Ewans, one Scottish, of course :) Inside jokes about his love for motorcycles. Looks HOT in that white jumpsuit! ;)

Star Wars Episode II - Come on...Obi Wan hotness drenched on Kamino and all those adorable cheeky comments...and lots of lightsaber action!

darn you, Erin...I just lost 10 minutes of my life! :)

mood: silly
listening to: Christmas music!

No, seriously...this was the best, Erwina. You rock my world with the juicy tidbits you find for me to nosh on.

"BABY LUKE: Don't leave me, Obi-Wan, don't leave me and become Alec Guinness! Surely all the glory that was the Republic and all the fineness that was Ewan McGregor cannot be lost to us!
OBI-WAN: I did mention this was an epic tragedy, didn't I?"

So...Mom and I went out today and I finished most of my Christmas shopping. I have a few more things I am about to go snag from amazon, but other than that, I am all done! yayness! now, time to wrap gifts, mail gifts to out-of-town folks, do the outdoor lights, and plan Christmas lunch. So...umm...yeah. Still a lot to do, but the gifties will be ready.

And, finally today, I conclude with three pics of our Christmas decorations. :)

Favor to Ask...

I know that not all of you are Ewan McGregor fans like Laurie and I are, but I received the following email from the board admin of our Ewan messageboard. If any of you have time this weekend or next week to do this, we would greatly appreciate it. Email me with any further questions.

------
Hello,

I don't send mass Emails to everyone on the Ewan Sisterhood Board
often but I think this is a worthwhile cause.

It has been confirmed that there will be no cast recording from Guys
and Dolls; the recording label has pulled its financial backing. One
Sister spoke with the Guys and Dolls orchestra conductor who told her
about it on Monday.

Numerous Sisters travelled from all over the world to see this play --
some more than once! It would be so wonderful to have a lasting memory
of the brilliant cast and the songs they sang. Many more were unable
to make the journey and a cast recording would be their only way to
share the remarkable Guys and Dolls experience.

We are going to try to sway the powers that be in our favor. We would
like every Ewan fan -- and that includes you! -- to write to the
theater between October 23 and 29 to let them know how much you want
to be able to buy a cast recording. And while we're at it, let's
really grab their attention: include a pair of dice with your letter.
The play revolves around the love lives of craps players, and the game
of craps is played with a pair of dice.

Here is the address to the Piccadilly Theater:

Piccadilly Theatre
16 Denman Street,
London,
W1D 7DY

Thank you! :-)
