#4. Bacon. Share instructions or a recipe that you use bacon in.Creole CabbageFrom Threadgill's - The Cookbook
Notes: I used my husband's homemade Canadian bacon instead of regular bacon and canned tomatoes instead of fresh to save time. I also omitted the Tabasco sauce and had it sitting out on the table since not everyone in our family likes spicy food.
6 slices bacon, diced
2 cups yellow onion, diced
4 cups tomatoes, diced
1 head green cabbage, cut into 1 1/4-inch squares
4 cups tomato sauce
1 cup water
1/2 teaspoon Tabasco sauce
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Saut diced bacon, add onion, anc continue cooking. Add all other ingredients and bring to a boil, stirring to avoid scorching. Turn down to a simmer and stew until cabbage is done, about 1 hour. Makes 10 big servings.

I realize my online presence (especially here) has been minimal over the past few weeks. I also understand that Neopets, random weather forecasts, and pinecone turkeys probably haven't interested most of you. I do promise more "real" entries in the coming weeks. In fact, I've already got my Four Foods on Friday entry for this week scheduled to go so I don't forget it.
Over at
Sarafina's Kitchen, I did finally get my Thanksgiving Menu posted, as well as a recipe for Creamy Artichoke-Parmesan Dip. Check out the new cookbooks I've picked up, too.
If you just can't get enough of me from my two journals, you can find me on Facebook and
Twitter, too.
Hope you guys are all doing well and that everyone had a wonderful, restful holiday.
