I posted yesterday afternoon about the Darth Vader Twitter account, and it made me think that maybe I should start updating mine again. I don't know if anyone cares or has time to read it, but if you're bored and want to know what Saffi's up to, here ya go:

I recommend the Force-Cast podcasts. I just finished the August 10 edition, and it was very, very good.
to be mushy.
I really miss my parents. They're on vacation this week, and I've gone to pick up the phone several different times to call them before realizing they're not there. :(
Just wanted everyone to know that the outpatient surgery I had Friday morning went well. I am still trying to recover, but getting better each day. Thanks to everyone who called/emailed/etc to check on me and wish me well. If you emailed me in the past few days, it will probably be this weekend before I get around to replying. I am going to attempt to go back to work tomorrow, so you might be able to catch me at that email address. I am also WAY behind on everyone's blogs...I hope to catch up on those this weekend, too. Hope you guys are all doing well.
Love,
Megs
I was listening to
NPR and heard that the Academy has changed the
rules for the Best Original Song Category.
II. Original Song
An original song consists of words and music, both of which are original and written specifically for the film. There must be a clearly audible, intelligible, substantive rendition (not necessarily visually presented) of both lyric and melody, used in the body of the film or as the first music cue in the end credits.
This means that songs that only play during the credits of a song are no longer eligible. The Academy says that the songs nominated for this category should not be heard outside of the context of the movie. It also bans studios from sending recordings, sheet music or music videos of the songs to those who vote for the Oscars. It should be how a song fits the film, not just how the songs sounds by itself.
Previous winners that fit into this category of only playing during the end credits include:
- "I Need to Wake Up" - An Inconvenient Truth
- "Into The West" - Lord of the Rings
- "Al Otro Lado Del Ro" -Motorcycle Diaries
that after listening to this BBC History Magazine podcast that I will be speaking with a British accent for the rest of the day. :P
to my Erwina. :) *smooches*
Voting has started for the first challenge at my

but I just cannot get into the Friday frame of mind. There's just too much that's been going on. This week has not been a good one overall.
Had I slept better last night, that probably would help a little bit. I also didn't have time to stop and grab something for breccie, so I'm starving, too.
I just got an email at work about an outstanding issue that I raised about our database almost a year and a half ago. They are still debating if it is even going to be fixed. This amazes me. This issue will cause the creation of over a 1000 duplicate records in our system that will have to be merged. There is just *no* time to have to deal with that. Now it looks like I will have to drop everything and go into our user test environment and spend the day figuring out exactly how many duplicates it creates. *fumes*
On the homefront, Minnie has been without a voice since Saturday night. At first I didn't think much of it because that happens from time to time with her, but yesterday morning I decided enough was enough. I set up an appointment with the vet for yesterday evening, and my instinct was right. I knew when Dr. Miller spent a good 3-4 minutes listening to her chest that it wasn't good. He said that it could be allergy-related, but she wasn't showing any other allergy symptoms. He said he really believes it is tracheobronchitis. That's right...my baby has bronchitis. He said her lungs don't sound as clear as they should. He gave her a cortisone shot there in the office and prescribed 10 days of antibiotics (good old amoxicillin). He said if I didn't see an improvement in her voice by Monday or if she got better then worse again, to bring her back in. That didn't make me feel good. If she doesn't get better it could be something worse. *sighs*
I am also having minor surgery a week from today, and it's finally starting to hit me and I am freaking out a little bit. Medical stuff doesn't normally bother me, but there's a *lot* riding on this procedure being successful. It has to work. It just has to.
There's some other stuff that's been going on, but I really don't want to get into it here. I will say that I miss Erin and Juls deeply right now and wish geography weren't an issue. I really need them close. Heh...I even dreamed that I had gone to see Juls and Lee and that I had gone into the city by myself for some reason, but when I tried to get back to Queens, the train I needed to get there stopped running, so I was freaking out trying to find out which ones would get me back. I finally found one that got me back as far as Rockefeller Center, but then I had to take a cab the rest of the way. I know that makes no sense, but there it is. Guess I shouldn't have watched 30 Rock last night...must have gotten that stuck in the back of my mind. :P
Why do some applicants use *the* worst handwriting to fill out their paperwork? I seriously cannot make out the email address on the document I am looking at now. Do they not realize how important these documents are???
- Thank goodness the week is going by quickly.
- Work is so busy that it's ridonculous. (Juls...did I spell that right?)
- Someone here at work has their radio *way* too loud.
- JB & Sandy are cracking me up this morning. (www.mix947.com for the radio webcast)
- D and I watched the first disc of Sex & The City Season 3 last night. I love that show!
- We also ordered in Chinese food...the Orange Beef rocked!
- As you can guess from previous item, I am not following WW very well this week. :P
- No offense to my gals that live up north, but I was watching the news last night and they were talking about the heat wave in D.C., NY, etc, and this woman they interviewed was complaining that it was so hot that she had sweat dripping down her back. I was like...come oooooooooooon. I know you're not used to it, but it's not the end of the world if you break a sweat. :P
- Lastly: Why is it so hard to find the sofa I want? D and I have looked a loooot of sofas and have yet to find what we want. Well, ok, we found a fully customizable one at Bassett furniture, but it was $2300. :P At least I have a picture now of what I want to take into other stores where I can actually afford a sofa.
